Parents were being held in two separate cases of the beating deaths of babies, police said Tuesday.

In one case, a 15-year-old Koreatown girl allegedly beat her 9-month-old son, who died of brain trauma. In the second case, a 25-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested on suspicion of molesting and beating to death his 3-month-old daughter.

Both parents were in custody Tuesday, officials said.

In the first case, LAPD child abuse detectives were notified on Saturday that a 9-month-old was being treated at Childrens Hospital for severe brain trauma. An investigation revealed that the injuries were caused by the boy’s mother, police said. She was arrested on suspicion of cruelty to a child and was being held at the Eastlake Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

Her 23-year-old boyfriend, who lives with her in the 3300 block of San Marino Avenue, was booked for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor for his relationship with the mother, police said.

The baby boy died at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, and police said murder charges will be sought against the mother.

In Sun Valley, Ramon Garcia was arrested Sunday after his baby daughter was hospitalized at Pacifica of the Valley Hospital in Sun Valley about 1 a.m.
