Ventura Program Wins Beautification Award

* Ventura’s Partners in Progress program, operated by the city’s parks division, received the Keep California Beautiful Public/Private Partnership Award. The honor recognizes beautification programs conducted in partnership with public agencies and private companies. Ventura’s Partners in Progress coordinator, Beth Davis, will be presented with the award during a ceremony Wednesday in Sacramento. Partners in Progress consists of adopt-a-beach and adopt-a-park volunteer opportunities for individuals and organizations.

Oxnard Art Assn. Names Winners of Exhibit

* The Oxnard Art Assn. announced the winners of its juried exhibit, “Freedom of Shape and Form,” which is on display through July 3 at American Commercial Bank in Oxnard.

Best of Show: Julian Vergara.

First place: Marian Ibers.

Second place: Jan Thompson.

Third place: June Lawrence.

Honorable mention: Mary Lyon, David Richardson and Marcia Brennan.
