Moorpark 109, Canyons 75--Simmagin Smith had 21 points and Brian Smith had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Raiders in a nonconference victory at Moorpark.
Devin Montgomery had 14 points for Moorpark (3-0), which led, 55-21, at halftime.
WOMEN’S GOLF
JC State Championships--Susan Latch of Canyons shot a five-over-par 77 to help put Canyons in third place after two rounds at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert.
Mt. San Antonio College leads the tournament with a total of 327. Foothill is second at 346, followed by Canyons at 349 and Modesto at 359.
The tournament concludes today with 18 holes.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Granada Hills 7, Westchester 0--Jasmin Dao defeated Jennifer Bermudez, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles to improve to 16-0 this season for the Highlanders (16-0) in a City Championship semifinal at Balboa Recreation Center in Encino.
Top-seeded Granada Hills, the defending City champion, has won 32 consecutive matches since losing to Palisades in the 1998 City final.
The Highlanders will face Carson, the team it defeated for the 1999 championship, on Friday.
Westchester finished 13-3.
El Camino Real 4, Belmont 3--Janelle Kulik and Jailyn Ross outlasted Marcie Barrientos and Angelica Davila, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5, in a No. 2 doubles match played over two days to help the Conquistadores (7-8) win an City Invitational quarterfinal.
The match had been suspended because of darkness on Friday at El Camino Real.
