They Weren’t in a Giving Mood

Trojan coaches were prepared to lay into their players for any fumbles at practice this week, but Coach Paul Hackett said they did not get much of a chance.

The team made it through Thursday’s drills error-free. The two previous days, there were only a few bobbles. Each infraction cost the offense a set of calisthenics.

“Our guys have concentrated pretty well,” Hackett said. “Now, can we concentrate with 90,000 people in the Rose Bowl?”

With Markus Steele’s ankle feeling better each day, the Trojans will play musical chairs with their linebackers against UCLA.

Steele is expected to play some, but not all, of the game Saturday. When he comes out, Aaron Graham will play middle linebacker and Zeke Moreno will switch from the middle to Steele’s position outside.
