Ex-Teacher Pleads No Contest to Holdups
OROVILLE, Calif. — A former Shasta County second-grade teacher robbed two check-cashing stores earlier this year to pay for a child custody battle, the woman’s lawyer said.
Dianne Fisher, 33, pleaded no contest Tuesday to reduced charges of grand theft. She could face up to three years and eight months in prison.
Prosecutors said Fisher robbed American Loan Co. in Oroville on April 6 by passing a note to store employees that said she would shoot them if they didn’t hand over money. Fisher was accused of robbing the Check for Cash office in Chico later that afternoon.
Fisher taught in Redding for eight years.
