Concordia Women Defeat Whittier

Evelyn Miles scored two goals to help Concordia to a 4-1 victory over visiting Whittier in a nonconference women’s soccer game Monday.

The Eagles scored all their goals in the first half, the first coming from Erin Lea nine minutes into the game. Kerry Anderson assisted on the goal.

Rebecca Bloomfield scored the next goal for Concordia from 10 feet off a cross from Regina Harrison.

Miles, who leads the team in scoring with 12 goals, scored her goals 30 seconds apart.

Whittier’s Erin Hurley scored in the 77th minute to break up Eagle goalkeeper Crystal Rodriguez’s shutout bid.

Concordia improved to 9-3 and will play Cal Baptist in a Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday in Irvine.

In another nonconference game:

Chapman 1, La Verne 0--Briana Benson scored off a rebound in the 60th minute for Chapman, which recorded its ninth shutout of the season. Sara Struhs was credited with the assist on Benson’s goal. The Panthers will play at The Master’s today at 3 p.m.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Cal Baptist 4, Chapman 1--Visiting Cal Baptist scored two late goals, including one on a penalty kick. The Panthers are 5-8-1.
