Thank-You Notes Teach Kids to Show Gratitude
Regarding “Thanks but No Thanks” (Oct. 3): Working in a coal mine is hard labor, scrubbing floors is hard work, but writing a thank-you note “excruciating”? Give me a break. I’m sorry if today’s mothers don’t teach their youngsters that it’s actually classy to show appreciation. The attitude of both mothers and children in the story that it was too much trouble to show gratitude to somebody who spent the time and money to give them a gift made me cringe! How totally boorish.
