OUTLOOK
Howard was already going to be thin at a lot of positions after graduating 20 seniors, then he lost four players to ineligibility and three more to transfers. Starting quarterback George Orozco decided over the summer that he didn’t want to play this year. The Matadors are expected to start the season with only 25 players on their roster. “It’s like rats jumping off a sinking ship,” Howard said of the players who moved. “This is going to be similar to what La Quinta dealt with last year in terms of numbers.”
