Deputy City Manager Dave Kiff is still looking for a few good men and women. He is organizing a walking team for the annual Race for the Cure. The team will honor Rosalind Williams, who led the Conference and Visitors Bureau before dying of breast cancer in June.

So far, 45 people, mostly city employees, have joined the team. With a goal of raising $10,000, Kiff hopes to find another 15 to 20 walkers to join the race.

Proceeds from the race will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which uses the money to fund research as well as education and prevention programs. Last year, racers raised nearly $1.4 million.

The race is at Fashion Island on Sept. 24. To register for the Williams team, contact Kiff by e-mail at dkiff@city.newport-beach.ca.us or call (949) 644-3002. The deadline is Wednesday.
