INJURY REPORT
PLAYERS WHO LEFT GAMES SUNDAY BECAUSE OF INJURIES
* TROY AIKMAN--Quarterback suffered a concussion three minutes in second quarter of Dallas’ 41-14 loss to Philadelphia and did not return. He was released from a hospital Sunday night after tests revealed no serious problem. Aikman was hurt while being sacked for the fourth time, by Hugh Douglas and James Darling. It’s the ninth career concussion for Aikman, who is in his 12th season.
* JOEY GALLOWAY--Wide receiver, who scored Dallas’ only touchdown Sunday, was carted off the field with a sprained left knee. He will undergo an MRI today.
* LANCE SCHULTERS--San Francisco’s Pro Bowl safety was knocked out of the game on the first play from scrimmage in the second half of his team’s 36-28 loss to Atlanta. A pile of players rolled into Schulters’ left ankle. X-rays were negative, but he will undergo an MRI today.
* WARRICK DUNN--Running back left Tampa Bay’s 21-16 victory over New England after hurting his right shoulder with five minutes left in the first half. He returned early in the third quarter.
* L.J. SHELTON--Left offensive tackle suffered a sprained right knee on the first play from scrimmage in Arizona’s 21-16 loss to New York Giants and did not return.
* JOEL MAKOVICKA--Arizona fullback left in the fourth quarter because of a knee injury.
* SAM GARNES--New York Giant safety left the game in the third quarter with cramps and later suffered a concussion with 2:57 to go.
* MIKE McKENZIE--Cornerback left Green Bay’s 20-16 loss to the New York Jets with a bruised thigh in the second half. Jets took advantage of McKenzie’s absence in fourth-quarter drive for decisive touchdown.
* LEVON KIRKLAND--Linebacker left Pittsburgh’s 16-0 loss to Baltimore in the first quarter with a sprained ankle.
* AL FONTENOT--Defensive end was helped off the field at the half in San Diego’s 9-6 loss to Oakland with what appeared to be a sprained left ankle. The Chargers have already lost defensive end Raylee Johnson for the season because of a knee injury.
* RYAN LEAF--San Diego quarterback came out three times after taking hard hits.
* DAVE SZOTT--Guard Dave Szott went out early in the first quarter in Kansas City’s 27-14 loss to Indianapolis because of a sprained right elbow.
* DAMON JONES--Tight end Damon Jones suffered sprained right knee on the second play from scrimmage of Jacksonville’s 27-7 victory over Cleveland and didn’t return.
* CHRIS LIWIENSKI--Left guard made his first start in place of Corbin Lacina in Minnesota’s 30-27 victory over Chicago, but suffered a sprained right knee. He is expected to be sidelined three weeks.
* ROB JOHNSON--Quarterback left because of ankle and foot injuries with 8:37 left in the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s 16-13 victory over Tennessee.
