Green Gains in Pursuit of Title

Jeff Green of Long Beach continued his drive for the NASCAR Super Stock championship at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night as the points leader won the 40-lap event before 5,429.

T.K. Karvasek finished second in the race and is third in points. San Pedro’s Mike Price, second in points, finished third.

Green holds a 48-point advantage over Price and is 72 ahead of Karvasek with only two races left in the season.

Lee Ladd of Thousand Oaks led all 30 laps to win the NASCAR Mini Stock race. Bob Reed of Riverside, with his third-place finish, moved into the points lead ahead of Bellflower’s Terry Limberopoulos. Limberopoulos finished 12th and fell 14 points behind Reed.

Ron Peterson of San Bernardino won the 50-lap Mechanix Wear speed truck race. Tommy Fry of Simi Valley and Charles Utts of Camarillo each won 50-lap Food 4 Less NASCAR Super Late Model Twin “50” races.
