A former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. worker whose home was raided by company employees and police two years ago won $1.65 million after saying the retailer wrongly accused him of theft. A Bentonville, Ark., jury found Wal-Mart liable for defamation and invasion of privacy. The company promised to appeal. Wal-Mart employees and Rogers, Ark., police seized more than 400 items, including computer components and tools, that the company said David Clark had taken illegally. Clark was not charged with theft, and a judge ruled that only 37 of the items belonged to Wal-Mart. Clark repaired damaged merchandise for the company at a business he runs at his home. He said the seized items included property he had bought, electronic items he was repairing for other customers and goods Wal-Mart had given him outright.
