Virtual Home Tours
Yahoo and Internet Pictures Corp., also known as iPIX, announced an agreement that will allow real estate agents and consumers to post interactive photos with their home listings on Yahoo’s real estate pages.
Yahoo chose iPIX’s technology as part of an effort to provide the most comprehensive real estate content on the Internet, said Nate Smith, a producer for Yahoo Real Estate. Home sellers and Realtors who use iPIX’s Virtual Tours technology pay the Oak Ridge, Tenn.-based firm $99.95 to send a photographer to take a series of pictures of a property’s interior and exterior. iPIX edits the photos and posts a 360-degree tour of the home on the Web. The technology allows potential home buyers to explore each room in a house by pausing and zooming in or out for a wider perspective.
