Sylmar 40, El Camino Real 16--Fullback Isidro Medina ran for three touchdowns and intercepted a pass, and the Spartans (3-0) scored 26 consecutive points in the second half at El Camino Real.
Medina, who rushed for 90 yards in 10 carries, gave Sylmar its first lead with a two-yard run with 6:50 left in the third quarter.
Medina scored again from 33 yards to extend the Spartans’ lead, 27-16.
John Valdez of Sylmar completed 13 of 19 for 158 yards and ran for two touchdowns.
Terrish Weston caught three passes for 113 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown from Jeremy Boyle on the Conquistadores’ first possession.
El Camino Real claimed a 16-14 halftime lead on a safety when Valdez was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone with 1:16 left in the first half.
Donnell Livingston of Sylmar, in his first start, rushed for 50 yards in nine carries, including a 21-yard run on his first carry.
