Car Crash Victim Was Camarillo Man
THOUSAND OAKS — A 72-year-old man killed during a traffic accident in Thousand Oaks was identified Friday as longtime Camarillo resident Robert James Poffenbarger.
Ventura County sheriff’s officials said Poffenbarger was pulling out from the stop sign at the bottom of the California 23 offramp Thursday, attempting to make a left turn onto Olsen Road, when the crash occurred.
Authorities said a woman driving a sports utility vehicle was unable to stop before hitting Poffenbarger’s vehicle. They are calling the crash an accident.
Poffenbarger sustained multiple blunt injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He lived in Camarillo for the past 25 years and worked as an X-ray machine serviceman for a Chatsworth company. A widower, he is survived by a daughter who lives in West Hills.
