Chapman Stumbles in Double Overtime

Niko Gutrugianious’ goal in double overtime gave visiting Cal State Los Angeles a 3-2 victory over Chapman in men’s soccer Friday night.

Down 2-0 with six minutes to play, Chapman’s Scott Martino scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season to tie the score. The Panthers (5-6-1) had a potential winning goal taken away on an offside call in the first overtime.

In the Clemson men’s soccer tournament:

Furman 2, Cal State Fullerton 1 (OT)--Furman’s Anthony Esquivel scored the winner five minutes into overtime. Duncan Oughton had tied the score for Fullerton (7-2) in the 70th minute.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Loyola Marymount 3, UC Irvine 2 (OT)--The visiting Anteaters (6-3) led, 2-0, at halftime on goals by Scott Bowman and Brad Aspey. Andres Murriagui scored the winning goal for Loyola Marymount.

In Big West Conference women’s soccer:

Pacific 3, UC Irvine 2--Gina Hintz and Erin Tuvey had second-half goals for visiting UC Irvine.

In Big West women’s volleyball:

Idaho 3, UC Irvine 1--The Vandals (10-2, 1-0) picked up their third victory in a row, while Irvine fell to 6-5, 1-3. Larissa Carter had 20 kills and 11 digs and Chanda McLeod had 17 kills and 12 digs for the Anteaters.
