SoCal Water Polo Teams Will Have Mettle Tested
The SoCal girls’ water polo club teams will try to duplicate their 2000 medal-winning performances at the National Junior Olympic Championships today through Wednesday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The SoCal club, located in Tustin and drawing players primarily from Santa Ana Foothill High, won a gold medal in the girls’ 16-under division, a silver in the girls’ 14-under division and a bronze in the girls’ 18-under division, making it the only club to win medals in all three girls’ age groups last year. The SoCal 14-under boys also won gold.
The boys’ competition, also a double-elimination format, begins Wednesday and concludes Aug. 11.
