Man Pleads Not Guilty in Slaying of Father
A 32-year-old Reseda man has pleaded not guilty to charges he murdered his father, an Emmy Award-winning sound technician, the district attorney’s office said Thursday.
Matthew Marky is charged with one count of murder, one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
Marky allegedly shot his 63-year-old father, William Marky, Sunday at the family’s Reseda home. The elder Marky won an Emmy in 1982 for outstanding achievement in film sound mixing for the TV series “Hill Street Blues.”
Marky is being held on $1,165,000 bail. If convicted, he could face life in prison. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7 in Van Nuys Superior Court, Gibbons said.
