Just another hot August day

Went down to the beach

In Playa del Rey

Looking forward to a cooling dip

Only to find a sea of tar-chip

All around, onshore, in waves.

It came in all sizes.

I wasn’t that brave.

This sticky petroleum goo

Was suddenly all around you.

Just another day at City Hall

While we finish off the ocean

Once enjoyed and used by all.
