Toyota Reduces Prices on 2002 Camry Models
Toyota Motor Corp. reduced U.S. prices on 2002 models of its Camry sedan, the nation’s best-selling car, as expanding sales and a weak yen help Japan’s largest auto maker maintain U.S. profit.
The lowest-priced version, the Camry LE with a four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission, will start at $19,800, down $615, or 3%, from the 2001 model, Toyota said. The fourth-largest auto maker in the U.S. cut the base price for a Camry LE with a V-6 engine by 4%, or $925, to $22,260. The vehicles are built in Georgetown, Ky.
Toyota’s U.S. sales unit is based in Torrance. Toyota’s American depositary receipts rose 34 cents to close at $65.64 on the NYSE.
