Authorities on Thursday were working to identify a man who was killed when his pickup truck crashed into an 18-wheeler and burst into flames.

The driver of the 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck was northbound on 50th Street East, south of Avenue H in an area just outside Lancaster at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when he crossed over the center line and struck the big rig, said California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Gonzalez.
