2 Found Not Guilty in Lurid Strip Club Case

Two men accused of helping an Atlanta strip club provide sex to professional athletes and launder money for the mob were found not guilty of racketeering, prostitution and other crimes.

Reginald Burney, a former Atlanta police officer, and Michael DiLeonardo, a New York businessman, were the remaining two defendants on trial in connection with crimes allegedly committed at the glitzy Gold Club. Burney could have faced 60 years in prison; DiLeonardo, also charged with extortion and other crimes, could have been sentenced to 75 years.

Five defendants, including club owner Steve Kaplan, had agreed to plea bargains in a deal with federal prosecutors. U.S. agents seized the club, which had once drawn celebrities such as Madonna.
