Dick Whittinghill
* I woke with [morning radio disc jockey] Dick Whittinghill for many years and in the late ‘60s won a television set (probably 15-inch) for my contribution to his “Story Record” contest (obituary, Jan. 26). While I didn’t always agree with his politics, he didn’t force them down one’s throat, and he was an exceptionally clever man. Sometimes off-color, but never crude, I miss him.
One more time, “Dick Whittinghill, tell us what time it is; and tell us, please, too, what the climate is. We thank you for the weather report and the time of the day, now get on with the records that you’re gonna play.”
