‘Crouching Tiger’ Gets Bishops’ Nod

If you’re wondering what film to see this weekend, the U.S. Catholic bishops hope you see “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” their pick as the top film of 2000.
The U.S. Catholic Conference, the social policy arm of the bishops’ conference, reviewed 240 movies and announced its top choices.
In addition to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” set in 19th century China and featuring masterful special effects and martial arts scenes, the bishops’ recommendations included “Traffic,” a suspense thriller about the drug trade starring Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and “Chicken Run,” a British claymation adventure about a flock of chickens trying to avoid the butcher’s pie machine.
