Suspected Burglars Back Into RV, Spark Blaze
Two men allegedly fleeing the scene of a car burglary backed into a motor home, punctured a propane tank and caused a fire early Monday morning, Oxnard police said.
Heriberto Avalos Fernandez and Ricardo Garnica Ramirez, whose ages and names were not released, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and hit and run.
Two men were burglarizing a car in the 1100 block of Douglas Street about 2 a.m. when they were confronted by the owner, police said. They jumped into their car and backed into a nearby motor home, sparking a blaze that destroyed the recreational vehicle, said Officer Edward Castruita.
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies later found the car in a ditch off Wooley Road. Fernandez and Ramirez were found walking along the road and arrested.
