* Quarterback Kyle Matter of Hart, running backs Tyler Ebell of Ventura and Lorenzo Booker of St. Bonaventure, receiver Steve Smith of Taft and defensive lineman Kaelen Jakes of Valencia have been selected to the Cal-Hi Sports all-state team.

Among the second-team selections were linebacker Josh Martin of Sylmar and defensive end Evan Allen of Hart.

Honored on the all-state underclass team were Smith, Booker, linemen Chris Frome of Hart, Victor Romero of Kennedy and James Bonelli of St. Bonaventure, defensive tackle Tim Volk of Notre Dame and defensive back Matt Moore of Hart.

TENNIS

* Third-seeded Celia Durkin of Woodland Hills and Kelcy Tefft of Enid, Okla., defeated Brintney and Jennifer Larson of Orchard Park, N.Y., 6-3, 6-2, to win the girls’ 14 doubles division title Monday at the U.S. Tennis Assn. Super National Winter Championships in Tucson, Ariz.

Durkin lost in a singles quarterfinal to Julia Cohen of Weston, Fla., 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

* Ninth-seeded Erica Sauer of Somis and Anne Yelsey of Corona del Mar defeated Shelah Chao of Medford, N.J., and Kristina Stastny of St. Louis, 7-5, 6-1, to win the girls’ 18 doubles third-place playoff Monday in the USTA Super National Winter Championships at Mesa, Ariz.

In boys’ 18 singles, Derrick Bauer of Marina del Rey claimed seventh place by defeating Stephen Amritraj of Calabasas, 7-5, 6-2.

BASEBALL

* The Lancaster JetHawks will play their new parent club, the Arizona Diamondbacks, in an exhibition game April 2, starting at 3:05 p.m. at The Hangar.

Both squads will participate in open workouts, including batting practice, before the game.

The exact starting time of the pregame activities will be announced at a later date, as will the beginning date of ticket sales.

BASKETBALL

* Four area boys’ City Section teams will participate in Big City Brawl on Saturday at College of the Canyons.

Canoga Park plays Dorsey at 2 p.m., followed by Chatsworth and North Hollywood at 3:45, Narbonne and Los Angeles CES at 5:15, Verbum Dei and Washington Prep at 7 and Fresno Washington Union and Sylmar at 8:30.
