Lawyers and Morality
* Re “There Ought to Be a Law Against Lawyers,” Commentary, Feb. 27: We don’t need a law against lawyers, we need a cap on the number of lawyers who hold public office at any given time. Lawyers are trained and rewarded for arguing someone else’s case in legal terms that are unfamiliar to many. That’s good. A bad side effect, however, is that their moral centers tend to slide precariously along a scale that is heavily oiled.
As for our federal government, look at this mess! Where are our scientists, teachers, healers?
