Bridge Fails; More Than 67 Feared Killed
From Times Wire Reports
More than 67 people are feared dead after a bridge collapsed in northern Portugal as a bus and two cars were crossing it, officials said.
The bridge over the Douro River south of Penafiel, about 180 miles north of Lisbon, the capital, gave way about 9 p.m., TSF radio reported.
A missing bus was believed to be carrying 67 local people who had been on an excursion to the northeastern Tras-os-Montes region to see flowering almond trees. It was not known how many people were in the cars.
