JUNIOR COLLEGE NOTEBOOK

Oxnard outfielder Paul McAnulty, a sophomore from Oxnard High, hit eight home runs last season for the Condors.

After 14 games this season, McAnulty is still looking for his first home run. But no one seems concerned at Oxnard (7-7, 1-1 in the Western State Conference).

“He’s hitting lasers off the fence,” Coach Jon Larson said. “In a lot of ways, he’s swinging the bat better this year than he was last year. He’s just not getting any lift.”

Don’t expect McAnulty’s power shortage to last long. The Long Beach State recruit is a probable June draft choice. He turned down a free-agent offer from the Dodgers while playing summer ball for Larson’s traveling team.
