Pedestrian Killed by Speeding Car in No-Crossing Zone
WOODLAND HILLS — A 38-year-old man died after being struck by a speeding car while crossing a street that prohibited pedestrians, authorities said Friday.
Howard Paige of Woodland Hills died shortly after the 10:20 p.m. accident Thursday near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Clarendon Street, said Officer James Vasquez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
Driver Christopher Cripes, 22, of Woodland Hills, was driving at an excessive rate of speed, Vasquez said, but was not held by police because the area was posted for no pedestrian crossing.
