Phone Company Employee Named to Council Seat
A telephone company technician was appointed Tuesday to fill a vacant seat on the Fountain Valley City Council.
Samuel Lew will serve out the term of former Councilman Chuck Conlosh, who had missed several meetings for personal reasons.
Lew, 47, an employee with Pacific Bell, was selected from a field of 11 candidates after four council votes. Lew, who previously served on the city’s Housing and Community Development Advisory Board, won the appointment on the final vote of 3 to 1.
Lew, whose term ends in 2002, has never run for elective office. His wife, Joanne, is a Fountain Valley School District trustee.
The City Council had been missing a member since late February. Conlosh vacated his seat after missing nearly two months of meetings.
