Political violence that has left three dead and 16 hurt in Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capital, spread as the government repeated its threats to arrest opposition leaders.
Armed supporters of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide marched in the southern town of Les Cayes, demanding the arrest of a leading opposition figure, Radio Vision 2000 reported.
The government repeated threats to arrest Gerard Gourgue, accusing the leader of the opposition alliance Democratic Convergence of illegally “usurping” the title of president.
