Alcantar’s Two Home Runs Lead First-Place Santa Ana
Tony Alcantar homered twice and drove in three runs to lead Santa Ana to a 12-1 victory over host Fullerton Saturday in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game.
Alcantar, who also doubled, homered with one on in the third and added a solo shot in the ninth for the first-place Dons (19-4, 9-2 in conference). Anthony Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI, and Ivan Ramirez (4-1) pitched eight innings for the victory.
Brian Ziarnick and David Braun had two hits each for Fullerton (11-13, 4-6-1).
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Cypress 8, Saddleback 5--Ray Aguilar (4-1) struck out seven in a complete-game victory for the visiting Chargers (18-8, 6-5). Jeff Ruziecki had two hits and two RBIs and Josh Hirt drove in two runs for Cypress.
Marcus Wyatt had three hits and Jon Stephens homered for Saddleback (18-6, 7-4).
Orange Coast 6, Golden West 4 (11 innings)--Josh McCanne singled home Jake Garcia with the winning run in the top of the 11th for the Pirates (17-6, 7-4). McCanne and Joe Burgett of Golden West (10-15, 2-9) had four hits each.
Riverside 13, Irvine Valley 2--Jason Fransz had three hits, including his 10th and 11th home runs this season, and three RBIs for visiting Riverside (22-4, 7-3-1).
Andy Dennis had two doubles for Irvine Valley (6-18, 1-10).
