Ware to Attend Oaks Christian
Aaron Ware, the younger brother of UCLA-bound football standout Matt Ware of Loyola High, has decided to attend Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village.
Ware, a 5-foot-10 eighth-grader, is a highly regarded running back and joins an Oaks Christian football program that will compete in its first varsity season this fall.
He could provide a major boost for Oaks Christian, whose coach, Bill Redell, guided Crespi to the 1986 Southern Section major division championship when he landed a prized running back, Russell White.
The Wares live in Malibu. Matt was a Parade All-American defensive back at Loyola. Aaron had been accepted to Loyola and Oaks Christian, choosing the Lions because he wants to establish his own identity.
“He doesn’t want to follow in his brother’s footsteps,” said his mother, Julie. “He really wants to form his own path.”
Oaks Christian competed as a junior varsity team last season with freshmen and sophomores. The Lions will play a freelance schedule next season before moving to the Frontier League in 2002.
