L.A. to Get Taste of British Club Scene
Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, the well-known indie label in England that put bands like Oasis, Ride and Primal Scream on the map, has a new club venture that’s hopping the pond.
After recent success in London with his monthly club, Radio 4, McGee is bringing his vision of club life to America’s shores. Promising a wide variety of musical content--the best of everything from the ‘60s to the ‘00s--McGee’s traveling club will make its first stop in Los Angeles this Saturday at the Knitting Factory (2021 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. [323] 463-0204. $12. 18 and older. 7 p.m.).
McGee will take the helm as DJ, as will Tim Burgess of the Charlatans. Patrons are promised a live band performance and visits from special guests each time Radio 4 comes to town. This week, Beachwood Sparks will set fire to the stage, and speculation is that members of Primal Scream may be the hush-hush guests of this week.
