Ed Jovanovski scored with 3:57 remaining in regulation to give the Vancouver Canucks a 2-2 tie with the Mighty Ducks Friday night.

Jovanovski took a drop pass from Harold Druken and sent a long wrist shot past goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

The teams traded scoring chances in overtime but Giguere stopped Todd Bertuzzi on a partial breakaway and Dan Cloutier robbed Paul Kariya with a sprawling glove save on a two-on-one rush with 38 seconds left.

Kariya and Jeff Friesen scored power-play goals in the first period, but the Ducks remained winless in four games.

Henrik Sedin scored for the Canucks, who have only one win in 13 games.

Vancouver outshot the Ducks, 33-23, and dominated action at regular strength, but had trouble putting the puck past Giguere, who finished with 31 saves.

The Canucks jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Sedin scored his ninth goal at 2:09.

Vancouver then took three consecutive penalties in the offensive zone and the Ducks capitalized with a pair of goals.

Friesen was credited with the first Duck goal after Tony Hrkac’s centering pass deflected off his skate at the top of the crease and past Cloutier.

Kariya made it 2-1 when Matt Cullen’s shot bounced off the stick of Vancouver defenseman Murray Baron straight to Kariya, who was all alone at the side of the net.

Vancouver came out flying in the second period, but it couldn’t beat Giguere, who stopped Donald Brashear on a breakaway and robbed Todd Bertuzzi and Denis Pederson in close.
