In another South Coast League game:

Mission Viejo 4, El Toro 2--Travis Herwehe (6-4) struck out nine and Dain Hanson, Nate Beyer and Taylor Holiday had RBIs in a three-run fifth for the the host Diablos (14-7-1, 7-4-1). El Toro is 7-17, 3-9.

In the Empire League:

No. 5 El Dorado 9, Century 1--Nick McMillan (9-1) pitched six innings to get the win and Bryan Jackson had a three-run double for host El Dorado (18-5, 9-3).

No. 9 Cypress 6, Kennedy 3--Paul Mezzetta (7-4) pitched a six-hitter, Scott Moore hit his seventh home run and Sean Zarate had two hits and an RBI for the visiting Centurions (16-7, 7-5).

In the Freeway League:

No. 4 Sonora 5, Troy 2--David Gaxiola had two hits, Eric Hale (6-0) struck out five and reliever Sam Papageorge picked up his first save for the host Raiders (20-2-1, 12-0), who managed only four hits. Troy is 8-13, 4-8.

In the Golden West League:

Irvine 8, No. 7 Aliso Niguel 4--Jon de Vries went three for three with two doubles, drove in a run and scored twice and Aaron Rippo had a double, single and two RBI for host Irvine (17-6, 10-4), which took over sole possession of first place.

In the Sunset League:

No. 1 Esperanza 11, Los Alamitos 6--Robert Nesbitt had a first-inning grand slam and went three for three with six RBIs for visiting Esperanza (20-3, 11-1), which clinched at least a tie for first place.
