Kay, Rouse Go Deep in Titans’ 10-4 Victory

Brett Kay and Mike Rouse each hit three-run home runs to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 10-4 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in a Big West Conference baseball game Sunday at San Luis Obispo.

The Titans (38-11, 11-1) scored three runs in the first inning on Kay’s home run, two in the second on Robert Guzman’s double, and two more in the third to take a 7-0 lead.

The Mustangs (28-20, 6-6) made it 7-3 in the sixth on Andrew Toussaint’s two-run double, but Rouse extended the lead back to seven with his ninth-inning home run.

Kirk Saarloos earned his 12th win of the season, allowing eight hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings.

In Big West Conference softball:

Cal State Fullerton 3, Utah State 0--Jodie Cox pitched a three-hit shutout as the Titans (46-12, 19-2) wrapped up their regular season with a series sweep of Utah State (11-39, 5-16).

Cox and Brenda Iglesias each had RBI singles. Catcher Jenny Topping had two hits, scored two runs and drew her 52nd walk of the season, placing her 11th on the NCAA single-season list.
