Police Nab Fugitive Tied to San Luis Obispo Death

With the help of the FBI, Mexican authorities arrested a fugitive from a 1999 California slaying, the attorney general’s office said.
Federal judicial police officers arrested Jose Escareno Espindola in the Pacific resort city of Puerto Vallarta after a Mexican judge issued an arrest warrant, the office said in a statement.
Escareno fled to Mexico after he was sought in connection with the April 15, 1999, shooting of Maria del Carmen Manriquez as she drove a pickup truck in San Luis Obispo, the office said. Manriquez was the sister of a deputy district attorney in Tucson, Ariz., it said.
