Franklin 48, Belmont 28--Behind 316 yards passing by Narciso Diaz, the Panthers (7-2, 5-0) won their ninth Northern League title in 10 years at Franklin.

Diaz ran the offense to perfection, completing 16 of 22 passes and throwing for two touchdowns. Stanley Robinson ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns, while Adam Viola had three touchdown receptions.

Just about everything worked in the Franklin offensive arsenal. Diaz threw for 271 yards in the first half, completing passes to five receivers.

Viola was the big target. He caught touchdown passes of 24 and 42 yards from Diaz. With Franklin leading 28-20 late in the half, Viola caught a 20-yard scoring pass on a trick play from tight end Thomas Murphy.

Belmont (4-5, 3-2) kept up with Franklin for awhile. Felipe Hernandes ran 49 yards for a touchdown and Ron Avalos threw scoring passes of 17 yards to Nate Elliston and 14 yards to Armando Velasco.
