Man, 19, Found Dead in Burned Guest House
A 19-year-old man was found dead Sunday by Los Angeles firefighters after they knocked down a blaze at a small guest house in the rear of a Highland Park home.
Firefighters responded to the blaze in 6400 block of North Figueroa Street about 8:40 a.m. and had it out within 15 minutes, said Bob Collis, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. Collis said initial indications show the fire was accidentally caused by clothing left near a floor furnace.
Dennis Barcelona’s body was recovered from the burned structure, a coroner’s spokesman said. A cause of death has yet to be determined. Barcelona lived in the small guest house owned by his extended family, Collis said.
