Girl Abducted From Aunt’s Home Is Found
An 8-year-old girl, allegedly abducted from her aunt’s home by her sister in south Los Angeles, was located in Houston on Sunday and a number of adults with her were taken into custody, police said.
Los Angeles police officer Don Cox said Sunday night that Chloe Archer had been turned over to Texas authorities and the child “appears to be in good condition.”
He did not identify the adults who were taken into custody. Cox said he could not say whether the suspects were her sister and a man who police had earlier alleged was involved in her Saturday abduction.
Police say Chloe’s sister, Johnte Archer, 24, abducted the child about 2:30 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 8700 block of South Western Avenue.
Chloe’s aunt had been caring for her and has legal custody, Cox said.
Authorities had sought the public’s assistance in finding the girl, saying they believed Chloe’s sister and an accomplice, Lamar Latham, might be taking her to Houston or Washington, D.C.
