Olga Strengthens, Becomes Hurricane
From Times Wire Reports
Tropical Storm Olga strengthened into a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean east of Bermuda, churning up swells that could batter the East Coast and the northern Caribbean, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
Olga formed on Monday and strengthened into a minimal hurricane with top winds of 75 mph, just over the 74-mph threshold to be considered a hurricane.
The storm was moving northwest at nearly 6 mph and was expected to strengthen slowly while staying out to sea east of Bermuda, hurricane center forecasters said.
