Joe Torre thinks Jason Giambi could be getting fitted for pinstripes real soon.

The New York Yankee manager spoke with the Oakland free-agent first baseman earlier this week, recruiting him to join the four-time defending American League champions.

Detailed contract talks haven’t started, but Torre made it sound like closing a deal could be relatively easy.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a while,” he said Wednesday. “He asked a lot of questions, and he asked me to ask him questions. It sounds like he would like to get it over with.”
