Razor Blades Found at Park; Police Boost Patrols
Police have increased patrols near Heller Park after three razor blades were found on a playground slide, officials said Wednesday.
Monday’s 10:55 a.m. discovery by a nanny is the first since a rash of similar incidents in the area in April and May. Razor blades were found around swings, sandboxes and slides at Heller, Pinkley and Lions parks in Costa Mesa, and at Bolsa and Marina parks in Newport Beach.
The incidents have alarmed residents and stumped detectives.
“More than likely, the same person or persons are responsible,” Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Don Holford said. “Fortunately, no one got hurt.”
