Power Nearly Fully Restored After Quake
Power has been almost fully restored throughout Guam, but school buildings were being checked for cracks in the wake of a severe earthquake that struck the U.S. territory over the weekend, officials said.
No deaths were reported from the magnitude 7 quake, which jolted the Pacific island about 1 a.m. Saturday. It was centered in the sea 45 miles south-southwest of Hagatna, the capital, and it originated from a depth of about 43 miles, officials said. No tidal waves were reported.
The quake lasted about a minute, rousing people from their beds and sending tourists and residents running from their hotels and homes.
