Nets’ Scalabrine Breaks Bone in Foot
Associated Press
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New Jersey rookie forward Brian Scalabrine, a former USC standout, will miss up to the first three months of the NBA season after breaking his right foot in the Nets’ exhibition finale against Detroit on Friday night.
“He was running upcourt and he heard a pop,” Nets’ President Rod Thorn said after the game.
X-rays disclosed a break in the smallest of the five long bones in the foot that run from the ankle to the toes.
Scalabrine was the 35th player taken in last summer’s NBA draft.
