Western Digital Says Sales Exceed Forecasts

Western Digital Corp., a Lake Forest maker of computer disk drives, said fiscal third-quarter sales and profit exceeded its prior forecasts on increased sales of disk drives. Sales for the quarter that ended Friday are expected to be about $590 million and per-share earnings, excluding tax benefits and investment gains, are expected to be 8 cents.
The company previously forecast sales of $575 million and profit of 5 cents. Final results for the quarter will be released April 25.
Western shares rose 1 cent to $6 on the NYSE before the revised forecast.
