A man who entered St. Patrick’s Cathedral, asked for a priest and then shot himself in the head last week has died from his injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Arsen Gazaryan, 24, an immigrant from Armenia, died Friday at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. He had been in extremely critical condition.

Gazaryan entered St. Patrick’s rectory on April 3 and, after asking to see a priest, handed a note to Father Michael Rajendran. After telling the priest he was depressed and didn’t want to live anymore, he shot himself in the face. Rajendran was not injured.
