Petal Pushers
Two couples are framed by many-hued ranunculus flowers, also known as Persian buttercups, at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in northern San Diego County. The bloom, delayed about two weeks because of warm fall nights, is expected to last into early May. New at the ranch this year: a floral U.S. flag, 300 by 170 feet. The ranch is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Adult admission $5. (760) 431-0352, www.theflowerfield.com.
